BIOGRAPHY

It is clear that the competitive athlete at the amateur or professional level does not have an optimal understanding and proficiency of body alignment, dynamics and biomechanics resulting in a dimished level of performance and an increased potential for injury. It is also apparent that more people in the general population are engaged in physical fitness activities without a similar understanding of the dynamic body with the resultant effect of increasing physical injuries; in fact healthcare has witnessed a disproportionate increase in sports related injuries with reported increases in acute care for these injuries.

The goal of balletics is to increase the understanding of the dynamic body, to correct and modify problems in alignment and movement, to increase flexibility, strength and agility, to optimize physical performance and to decrease the potential for injury.

Balletics is a program that I developed over the past thiry years, and represents a methodology that derives from my personal training as a professional ballet dancer and from my experience as a personal trainer/coach to elite level competitive athletes. This program is based on the natural and anatomical laws of human movement and body mechanics. The relative lack of knowledge, understanding and application of biomechanics in physical training is a profound weakness in development. Knowledge is the core of Balletics which incorporates many of the principal underpinnings of other schools of physical training and evaluation, e.g. Kineseology, BioMechanics, Pilates, Yoga, Dance, Athletic Training, etc.

The initial steps in this program include an evalution of medical, physical and emotional parameters which may influence physical performance and which are part of the understanding needed to optimize physical training and lifestyle choices. Each person requires an individualized approach to their physical training and goals.
